Christmas Wedding Season 2011 - Anthony and Kerry Radford

Mango love a small and intimate wedding, ad Kerry and Anthony's was just so perfectly that. We performed over the evening wedding breakfast at Kilworth House's Shakespeare Room. There were just 15 guests seated around the large dining table adorned with fairy lights and candles. Kerry and Anthony provided us with a list of songs that they had chosen from our website setlist, and had also asked us to learn Elbow's 'One day like this'. A challenging number - but a song that works really well acoustically (it's made it onto our setlist!)

We had such a lovely time with Anthony and Kerry and hope they enjoyed the entertainment after we left (It was someone looking a lot like Anthony only dressed up in some fab 70's clothes!)

Christmas Wedding Season 2011 - Chris and Lisa Carter

One cold crisp Sunday morning, we started our long journey down to Surrey to perform for the wedding of Chris and Lisa at The Talbot Inn, Ripley. We performed for the Ceremony and Drinks Reception in the converted barn at the very 'Olde' pub - It is said to have provided the stage for Lord Nelson and Lady Hamilton’s love affair to blossom in 1798 - what a place to get married!
Lisa walked down the aisle to meet her husband to be as we sang More Than Words. The couple made their vows and their wasn't a dry eye in the house! We then performed Better Together and Kiss Me as they signed the register, then they made their exit as Man and Wife to our rendition of Brown Eyed Girl - a chirpy number that had everyone singing along!
We then moved into the Venue's Winter wonderland - a room decorated with 'a million' ice blue fairy lights, as we performed some more live music for the drinks reception.
We had a lovely time with Chris, Lisa and all their friends and family - and hope they enjoyed the rest of their day.

Christmas Wedding Season 2011 - Phil and Laura Doorgachun

Phil and Laura had a beautiful wedding at the stunning Hothorpe Hall. Mango provided the early evening entertainment as the guests arrived in the bar after the wedding breakfast. We performed some songs selected from the couple as they chatted and mingled with their guests, and also Beyonces' "One plus One" - a song we learnt especially just for them! It was such a lovely moment as they danced to the song.

We wish them both well in their new future together and Laura the best of luck in London 2012!! We'll have our fingers crossed for you. xx

Christmas Wedding Season 2011 - Lyndsay and Scott Baines

What a fabulous wedding to kick start the festive season. Lyndsay and Scott were married at the beautiful Rushton Hall and we (MANGO) provided the music over their wedding breakfast. We had met Lyndsay and Scott at one of our public gigs earlier in the year and it was a great privilege to perform for them on their special day.
Lyndsay had a great eye for detail and had some amazing table decorations - Sweet Trees, which all of the guests seemed to enjoy munching on in between courses! We wish the new Mr and Mrs Baines all the best for their future together! x

Goodbye 2011... Well hello 2012!

I can hardly believe we are in the last few days of 2011, what a year it has been for Mango - where have all the months gone? I know I say that every year.... and each summer we get to I can't quite believe we are playing at weddings that were booked years in advance - time just seems so slip by so quickly when you're having fun! We have had the privilege of performing at so many beautiful weddings and events this year, and met some lovely couples along the way.

We've also had the opportunity to perform at some at the most amazing wedding fair events this year, working closely with our fabulous local venues, such as Hothorpe Hall, Shearsby Bath, Brooksby Hall and Woodborough Hall and other great local wedding suppliers - Nigel Ord Smith, Melodycakes, SMD Photography, Eve Lily and Sonic Light and Sound. We were also invited by Save The Date Magazine to perform at their 'Wedding Event with a Difference' at Derbyshire's The Round House - it was such an amazing experience and such a fab event!

Also, this year has been slightly different from Mango's previous five years. In July, I gave birth to our first son, Frankie. With me a little busy over the summer months, meant that we needed a stand in singer to take over for a while. We were so excited to have Hannah, who was a dream to work with, sounded amazing and was so happy to learn our large repertoire and all the additional 'special songs' we learn for each wedding - it was a BIG ask!! and was a hard job to do, but Hannah did amazingly. It was so reassuring to know that Mango was in good hands while I was away - and to keep Will sane with a new mother and screaming baby at home! So a big Thank You to Hannah for all your hard work.

To top off an already fabulously exciting year for us, in November we found out that we had won Best Wedding Entertainment (East Midlands Region) from The Wedding Industry Awards! In order for us to win, sixty of our Brides and Grooms from the past 2 years filled out an extensive questionnaire about our service, and voted for us to win. The competition was stiff, so we were so thrilled and honored to hear that we had won - all our hard work and dedication to provide an excellent level of service had paid off. So thank you again to all the lovely people that voted - we couldn't have won without you!

So now to 2012 and what this New Year will hold for Mango? As well as waiting to hear the results of whether we have won the National Final Wedding Industry Awards (we'll know the results in January), we have a few exciting ideas in the pipeline..... so watch this space.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that gave us the privilege of performing at their weddings and events this year, and we look forward to meeting all our 2012 Bridal Couples very soon - it will be 2013 before we know it!

Ruth and Adrian.... Curradine Barns

Mango had a fabulous time performing Ruth and Adrian's wedding at the stunning location of The Curradine Barns. We arrived nice and early to find the hustle and bustle of Ruth and her Bridesmaids getting ready. We set up on the balcony in the barn (which you gained access to through the bridal suite!) - Will didn't know where to look with all the girls being pampered in their PJ's!!
Ruth had chosen a 'Star' theme for her wedding, and every where you looked you could see stars decorating the gorgeous venue. We performed for their ceremony and drinks reception and learnt 'Just Like a Star' especially for them, which Ruth walked down the aisle too - just lovely. I did find myself trying to find all the songs in our setlist with the word Star in them - there were actually quite a few!!

A few days ago we received this lovely letter from Ruth and Adrian.

It was a lovely wedding to be a part of and we wish the new Mr and Mrs Bennett all the best for their future - thanks for having us and making us feel so welcome!

WE'VE WON - The Best Wedding Entertainment, East Midlands!

Hello everyone,

We were very excited this morning to hear the news that we (MANGO) had won The Best Wedding Entertainment category in the East Midlands for The Wedding Industry Awards 2012!
More than 2000 wedding suppliers entered the Awards so we are just chuffed to bits that we have won a regional award. We are also just so humbled by the fact that so many people took the time to fill in a huge form and vote for us to win. Only couples that got married within the past 2 years could vote and we received an amazing 59 votes in total.
So a huge thanks to everyone that did vote for us - you have made us very proud of what we do!

Save The Date Magazine and The Wedding Event with a Difference

Last week we (Mango) had the superb pleasure of performing at one of the UK's most prestigious Wedding Fairs. Save the Date Magazine organises the most amazing wedding events called 'The Wedding Event with a Difference' and it certainly was just that. Set in Derby College's amazing venue 'The Round House' - we arrived to all the last minute details of the glitz and glamour being prepared and the buzz and excitement of all the suppliers setting up. We were one of the acts to be performing in The Lyrical Lounge - a huge Tipi set up out side. We shared the Tipi with Belvoir Fruit Farms (I was a little star struck, as I adore their products!)

As part of our involvement with the event, we organised to run a competition for all our Bride and Grooms to be, to win some free tickets! All they needed to do was answer a simple Mango question, and two couples would be chosen at random. The Lucky winners were Rachel Wood and Chris Allen, and Claire Leeming and Paul Hentrich - both couples are to be married in August next year (see the lovely impromptu photo of them!)

We met some lovely couples there, including some of our other brides and grooms for next year, and some fantastic suppliers.
We would like to thank Abbi and all the girls at Save The Date, for inviting us to be part of this amazing event.

Introducing.... Mango's new little addition - Frankie!

Hello everyone,
I have managed to find a few quiet moments to finally post about our newest addition....

We would like to introduce our son Frankie to you all. He was born on the 24th July 2011 at 10.33am and weighed 6lb 15oz.
He is amazing and we're enjoying life with him. It's hard work but great fun!

We would like to thank you all for your well wishes and congratulations!

Meet Hannah – our Summer singer

I thought I would pay homage to our wonderful stand in singer for the Summer – Hannah Brine. Read her letter to all our summery wedding couples –

“Hello, I’m Hannah Brine and I’m really excited to be joining Mango and stepping in for Charlie whilst she is on Maternity leave.

My background in singing is vast and various, from performing at weddings in a similar setup to Mango, to fronting many different styles of bands from Jazz, pop and everything between. I have performed at the NEC, various jazz festivals and on Café Del Mar and Buddha Bar CD’s. I also teach singing, and run an established choir in Leicester, which has quickly grown to over 80 singers of all ages and backgrounds. Due to its popularity, I am currently setting up another choir in Kensington!

I met Will at music college back in 1998, and can't wait to work with him in "Mango" over the summer.

I look forward to meeting you on your big day!

Mike and Sarah, Quorn Country hotel, Leicestershire

Mango always like a surprise, and at Mike and Sarah's wedding we played a part in a whole host of secrets that were revealed to their guests throughout the day! We performed for their ceremony which took place in the orangery at Quorn Country Hotel and also their wedding breakfast too.

Sarah and Mike hand picked some of their favourite songs from our setlist to perform throughout the day. They choose some great songs for us to include - so thanks for picking some fab tunes!

We worked with a great photographer Darren Cresswell who took some amazing pictures of the day - read his blog here. I especially love the photo of Mike waiting for Sarah to walk down the aisle! Darren also took some lovely pictures of us too - thanks Darren! (see ablove)

MANGO is expanding!

Well hello there folks, hope you are all well and enjoying the Summer!
Mango have some very exciting news to announce.... We are expecting our first baby in a few weeks time! Yes, me and Will are married - for all of you that were too polite to ask, but were always wondering!
Brides and Grooms over the past few months, have born witness to my ever increasing waist line as I grew quite literally from week to week. I think a few Grooms were worried that I might have the baby there and then as my tummy is quite large - let's hope the baby isn't!

Being a full time singer I have been bombarded with questions like - 'how long will you keep singing?' and 'Will you be able to sing when you are quite large?' Well in all honesty - I didn't know, as I had never been pregnant before! Luckily being pregnant hasn't made a difference to my voice and the only slight hassle I had was singing 'Hallelujah' - the baby kicked around only when I sang that one song!

As I mentioned, we only have a few more weeks to wait before we meet the new Mango Addition. So I am taking a few months off from singing, but Will is carrying on all our Summer weddings with our amazing stand in singer, Hannah.

I will keep you updated on any news... and wish Will and Hannah all the best for the Summer!

Vikki and Ben, Harpenden House

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast of Vikki and Ben. Their wedding reception took place at the stunning location of Harpenden House. The new Mr and Mrs Firth's attention to detail was lovely, with burnt orange and brown as their colour scheme - bunting and garden lights/candles adorned the exterior of the building.
Vikki and Ben only picked a few songs for us to include on the day, as they thought our set list was great and wanted to let us decide what to perform on the day!

Joanne and Karl, Shearsby Bath

Mango provided the early evening entertainment for the lovely Joanne and Karl at the stunning Shearsby Bath. We set up in the marquee and awaited the guests to join us from the wedding breakfast in the main house. As everyone arrived and settled down into the evening we performed a selection of our chilled out acoustic songs. We finished off with the couples first dances - yes two! The couple wanted to dance to 'My Everything' by themselves, they then invited all couples to dance floor as we performed 'Let's Stay Together'. During this song an Exploding First Dance balloon was popped and loads of tiny little balloons cascaded over the couple and their guests, just lovely!

We wish the new Mr and Mrs Simons all the best for their new future together, and thank them for letting us share their day.

Martin and Liz Widley, Leigh Park

Mango performed for the early evening celebrations of Martin and Liz at the lovely Leigh Park. We played a selection of our songs handpicked by the couple as they and their guests sat back and chilled out after the wedding breakfast. Liz and Martin are really into music and said they found it difficult to choose just 30 songs from our list, as there were so many they loved and wanted to hear!
We ended our performance with their first dance. They had asked us to learn Athlete's 'Yesterday threw everything at me'. It was such a lovely moment to share with them - thanks for letting us be part of your big day!

Deborah's Surprise 50th Birthday Party.

A few months ago we performed for 50th Birthday celebrations of Deborah. The party itself wasn't a surprise - just us! Graham (Deborah's husband) contacted us a while ago, conspiring to keep us a secret until the big day! It worked, as she hadn't suspected a thing! We performed a selection of our songs, all handpicked by Graham as the guests arrived and during their dinner. We then handed over to a DJ to take over the rest of the evening for some dancing.

Thanks for Graham and Deborah for making us feel so welcome - and we hope you had a fantastic night!

Sally and Craig Leishman, Woodborough Hall, Nottinghamshire

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the wedding ceremony and drinks reception of the new Mr and Mrs Leishman one cold Sunday in January at the stunning Woodborough Hall. The ceremony took place in the lovely Orangery and we played 'Songbird' as Sally made her grand entrance. As the newlyweds signed the register we sang Louis Armstrongs 'Wonderful World' (we we learnt especially for them) and Greendays 'Time of your Life'. As the couple made their exit we performed 'You've got the Love'.

We then moved into the Entrance Hall to perform some of our chilled out acoustic tunes over their drinks reception. During this time Sally and Craig were whisked away by Sarah from Mirror Imaging Photography to snap some beautiful shots of the couple - see their blog and pictures here.

We set up in the orangery and before we began, managed to steal a few moments with the newlyweds to wish them congratulations before all their guests arrived for the reception - this is a bit of a luxury as many Brides and Grooms we perform for are really busy on their wedding days!

Clare runs her catering business from Shrugborough Hall, providing the tea rooms with delicious food and she also did the catering for one of our previous weddings there last year. The New Mr and Mrs Kerslake, The Bradgate, Leicestershire.

Mango performed for the wedding celebrations of Stacey and James Kerslake. The new Mr and Mrs Kerslake were married at Gretna Green a few weeks before, and we provided the entertainment for their big party at the fantastic Bradgate Pub. Thanks to Jo from the Bradgate for passing our number on!
We performed many of our chilled tunes throughout the night and played 'You do something to me' for their first dance, a song we learnt especially for them - and it's now on our setlist as it's such an amazing song!

We provided some relaxed entertainment as they celebrated with all their family and friends. Sue and Rob's family had provided a great buffet, much to the children's delight - they took up refuge underneath the buffet table, right below the crisps!!
They were a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome and very much part of the party, we had great fun with them!

Carly and Chris Hall, Six Hills Golf Club, Leicestershire.

Mango performed for the drinks reception and early evening celebrations of Carly and Chris' wedding. The reception took place at Six Hills Golf Club and we were a surprise for the happy couple from Carly's mum Ursula.
We performed in a marquee for the drinks reception and performed 'Hallelujah' as Carly and Chris walked in. It was nice to see their shocked faces as they had no idea we were going to be there!
We also performed for them after the wedding breakfast, providing some chilled out tunes as they relaxed after the meal. We then handed over to the DJ who took the celebrating well into the night.

It was a pleasure to perform for them and Ursula was great at keeping us such a big secret!

Melanie and Mark Goodwin, Areley Kings Church and The Granary Hotel, Worcs.

Mango had the pleasure for performing for the wedding ceremony of Melanie and Mark Goodwin. Their ceremony took place at a lovely little church with a mini church hall (a recently renovated old church house) next door. We were greeted by the vicar who invited us in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake!
We performed a few songs as the guests arrived at the church and also provided some music for the signing of the register, including an especially learnt song - I Wanna Hold Your Hand'.
Following the ceremony, we relocated to The Granary Hotel, to provide some music for the drinks reception. As it was a warm October day, we performed outside while Melanie, Mark and their guests sipped mulled wine and had conker contests - a nice idea provided by the bride and groom!
It was a lovely day and we hope that the new Mr and Mrs Goodwin have a very happy life together.

Scott and Becca, Fawsley Hall, Daventry.

Mango had the pleasure of performing at the amazing Fawsley Hall for the wedding of Scott and Becca.

We performed for their ceremony and drinks reception and for their first dance later on. After the beautiful ceremony we relocated into the garden for their drinks reception. However a sudden down pour meant that we had to relocate inside to carry on with the celebrations! Scott and Becca and all their guests chatted and mingled as they sipped champagne and listened to our music.
After the wedding breakfast we set up to perform a few songs before the evening band started. We ended our set with their first dance.
We had a great time with Scott and Becca and want to thank them for making us feel so welcome.

Lucy and Matt Wilson and the groovy 70's style Festival themed Wedding.

Mango always love a themed wedding, and Lucy and Matt's wedding was no exception! Their wedding took place in Matt's parents garden, a marque overlooking a lake - lovely! We arrived as the drinks reception was in full swing - an Indian Duo, playing Sitar's were providing some ambient music and really setting the scene. The marque was decorated with straw hay bales and posters of some great Woodstock performers.
We performed our sets over the wedding breakfast and played some songs that Lucy and Matt had handpicked from our website setlist.

It was a great day and we really enjoyed ourselves with all their guests.

Mango had the amazing opportunity of performing at a stunning wedding at Belvoir Castle. The lucky couple were Su and Paul, who were married in The Guards Room.

We performed a selection of songs while the guests enjoyed a cup of tea while awaiting Su's arrival.
Su made her grand entrance down the beautiful staircase as we sang 'Dream Catch Me', it was a lovely moment to watch as Paul saw his bride appearing.
After the ceremony, we then joined the wedding party down on the lawn as we performed a few more songs, while everyone was enjoing Strawberries and Champagne and having their photographs taken.

We hope that Su and Paul went on to have a fabulous day and that they have a very long and happy life together.

Mango performed for the early evening celebrations of the new Mr and Mrs Cox at the lovely Kilworth House. We were situated in the cellar bar, which is a great location for evening parties.

After we had performed a couple of sets and got the party started, we handed over to the DJ for the rest of the evening as the dancing really got underway.

We performed during their drinks reception which took place outside in the courtyard on a warm sunny afternoon. We were joined by an vintage ice cream stall - with our chilled tunes and cool ice cream on hand it made for a very relaxing drinks reception.
We also performed after the wedding breakfast in the Pavilion and created a relaxed atmosphere as Rob and Eve greeted their evening guests.
We handed over to a party band to take the evening celebrations well into the night.

We also performed for their wedding breakfast, which was a cosy affair as space was a bit tight. All the couples friends and family were great and so friendly, we certainly felt very much like part of the family. Both me and Will loved it when everyone downed their knives and forks to sing along with More than Words - such a lovely moment!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for Felicity and Ian's early evening wedding celebrations. They had their wedding reception at the lovely Ealand Gate Restuarant in Lincolnshire.

We set up outside for our first set, but had to quickly move inside as the weather had to decided to be very inclement! We carried on the rest of our performances inside and performed a selection of songs handpicked by the couple from our website setlist.

At the end of our set, Felicity and Ian danced their first dance to our version of 'Chasing Cars'. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed watching the couple dance and a few of them joined in along side Felicity and Ian. After the first dance we handed over to the DJ who carried on the party until the early hours.

Delia and Colin, Kilworth House, Leicestershire

Mango performed for the drinks reception, wedding breakfast and early evening entertainment at Delia and Colin's wedding at the lovely Kilworth House. As we were setting up and sound checking on the stunning terrace stairs, we realised we had an early audience - about 20 cows had gathered under a tree to watch us in the field at the bottom of Kilworth House. They seemed most put out when we stopped!
Delia, Colin and their guests soon joined us on the terrace, along with all the other local residents - the wasps! They (wasps included!) seemed to be enjoying themselves drinking Pimms and having their photographs taken in the warm sunshine.
After perfoming for the wedding breakfast in the orangery, we all relocated to the cellar bar for the evening celebrations. We performed 'It's not a dream' by Sharon Corr for the couples first dance, which was a lovely moment, and then went on to perform a few more songs while people chatted and mingled.
We had a great time with Delia and Colin and they made us feel very welcome. Thanks for letting us be part of your big day!

Danny and Adele, Tythe Barn.

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the new Mr and Mrs Keil at the stunning Tythe Barn, Petersfield. We performed for their ceremony, drinks reception and over their wedding breakfast. Adele made her way down the aisle to Danny as we performed 'A moment like this', during the signing of the register we performed, 'Thank You' and 'We're in Heaven' and then Danny and Adele made their way back up the aisle to' Better Together'.

We then moved outside to perform over the drinks reception, where Danny and Adele celebrated with their family and friends. Following the drinks reception, we relocated back inside the barn for the Wedding Breakfast. After the speeches, we performed our final set as everyone ate, drank and celebrated further. The dessert course was a little different to the norm - Danny and Adele had arranged for an old fashioned Ice Cream cart to come inside the barn, so people could help themselves to some delicious cold creamy delights!! Yum!

We had a great day with Danny and Adele, and it was lovely to finally meet them, as they booked us a year and a half ago!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for Sophie and Chris at the stunning Sutton Bonnigton Hall. We performed for their ceremony and drinks reception and also for their first dance. It was a very dramatic day... the first wedding we have ever done with thunder and lighting! Luckily the storm passed just before Sophie made her grand entrance. We sang 'Make you feel my love' as she walked down the aisle, 'First Day of my life' and 'Chasing Cars' as they signed the register.

Sophie and Chris asked us to learn 'One and Only' by Teitur for their first dance. We loved the song so much we went out and bought their album - well actually just popped on iTunes!

We had such a lovely day with the new Mr and Mrs Holmes and their guests and they made us feel like part of the party. So many thanks to them for having us and looking after us so well!

The Farm Foods British Par 3 Championships, Nailcote Hall

Mango arrived nice and early to perform for the dinner following the first day of competition at the Farm Foods British Par 3 at Nailcote Hall. We had no idea (not being very sporty types!) how huge this event was. It wasn't until we had to pass security on the doors and saw Sky TV everywhere we realised this was probably a little bit bigger than we thought! Having bumped into and enjoyed a small chat with William Roach (Ken Barlow from Corrie) over a cup of tea, we set up to perform for the celebrities who had attended the day.
During the evening we performed some laid back acoustic tunes as we entertained the rich and sporty famous, whilst being compere'd by Willie Thorne! It was a tad bizarre singing infront of so many famous faces and seeing the likes of Len Goodman tucking into his dinner - I gave him a '10' for table manners!

We would like to thank Champions for organising the day and making sure we had everything and also a big Thank You to Tom from Jigsaw events - who once again helped us pack up our equipment!

The new Mr and Mrs Townsend, Trentham Parish Church

Mango had the pleasure of performing for Gareth and Jodie for their wedding ceremony at Trentham Parish Church.
We performed a selection of songs while the guests sat down and awaited Jodie's arrival. As Jodie made her grand entrance we sang, a specially learnt song, 'Come by the hills'. Gareth and Jodie asked us to perform some songs instead of hymns and chose - 'Fields of Gold', 'Heaven' and 'Lovely to me'. We also performed 'Better Together', 'How deep is your love' and 'It must be love' during the signing of the register. Finally we played Greenday's 'Time of your life' as they made their exit as husband and wife, to a slightly damp August day.
It was a lovely ceremony and the vicar was great - I would say that as he was from Cardiff, as am I!!

We wish Gareth and Jodie all the best for their new Lives together and thank them for letting us be part of their ceremony.

Mango performed for Julia and Mike at the stunning Dark Barn for their wedding celebrations. We arrived just as the wedding breakfast was drawing to a close, and as Mike and a few friends don'ed their musical instruments to serenade his new wife! It was going to be a tough act to follow as they brought the house down!

We started our performances with their first dance - Julia and Mike had asked us to learn 'This Never Happened Before' a Paul McCartney song form the film The Lake House. It is a lovely song with great lyrics. We played two sets for them before handing over to their own iPod disco.

We had great time with the New Mr and Mrs Sweeney and their guests. We were also reunited with Oehlers Photography who were photographing the day - it was great to see Cathy again!

Their wedding breakfast took place in the lovely marque at the venue and we played some chilled out tunes as they ate. After the meal had finished we performed another set keeping everyone entertained before the evening guests arrived.

We ended our time with their First Dance. The couple had asked us to learn 'Stand By Me' which we performed as they took their first dance steps as Mr and Mrs Mapp.

Initially it was Craig’s sister Sarah who got in contact, as she had finally found us – apparently perfect for her brothers’ wedding. When we met Craig and Sam, we realised why we were so suitable – they both had Flip Flops on – His, Black to match his suit and Her’s white, to match her dress! A real ‘surfie’ affair! Fab!

We enjoyed performing our chilled out songs for Sam and Craig and we had a great time with them both.

We had been asked to play a part in the proceedings as we too are an example of a successful Young Business in Leicester. Mango had really been looking forward to Nick and Vicky’s wedding at the Carlton Mitre Hotel, London since they decided to book us, as they had asked us to learn one of the most unusual , but fabulous first dance song! It was a 1980’s song ‘Run with Us’ from the 80’s Cartoon ‘The Raccoons’ – Will was so excited about learning this one, he had been a big fan of The Raccoons in his childhood.

We performed for their drinks reception outside on the terrace, overlooking the Thames and then later on for their evening reception which included the first dance. Nick and Vicky were such a lovely couple and all their family and friends were so welcoming to us. We would like to thank them for inviting us to be a part of their big day and also for choosing such a great first dance song!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for Laura and Stuart at the amazing Weddings and Wellies. We performed for their drinks reception and early evening celebrations. Unfortunately the weather was very wet, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of Laura, Stuart and their guests, as they arrived at the marquee venue in wellies! I know I am supposed to concentrate when I am singing, but the fashion parade of fabulous wellies was something not to be missed! All the guests had gone to town, matching their wellies to their outfits – maybe me and Will should have taken heed of the venue title and worn wellies ourselves, as our feet did get a little soggy!

Laura’s dad contacted us in secret and asked us to learn ‘ She moved through the fair’ as a surprise, which we performed for them just before we said our goodbyes and handed over to the DJ.

We had a great time at Laura and Stuart’s wedding, everyone was so welcoming, including the venue owners Claire and Duncan.

Choosing your ceremony songs

Many of our bridal couples get a bit stuck when deciding on songs for their ceremony. Choosing the right music is important. It accompanies all the major parts of the ceremony and sets the mood for the wedding. The songs you choose could be, just simply, nice songs you like or, songs that have some meaning to you both!
If you don't know where to start, then help is here!!

We suggest you choose -
Between 5-6 songs as your guests are arriving.
1 song for the processional ( As we are a live band, we can shorten the song - depending on the aisle size!)
2 songs for the signing of the register (we like to have a spare song just in case the photographs take a little longer!
1 song for the recessional.

You may know already but, if you are having a Civil ceremony, then the music can't contain any religious content.

Mango performed for the rather stylish Gavin and Russ at the beautiful Ettington Park Hotel. We performed outside on the terrace as their guests chatted and mingled after the wedding breakfast.

We had an amazing time playing and singing in the remarkable setting of Ettington Park. We took requests from the guests and even had a few sing along to some of their favourites!

As we finished the DJ took over to take the party well into the night. As we were packing away, Gav and Russ came over to say Goodbye and were very excited to finally meet ‘Hank’ our Mango mobile as they had read about ‘him’ in previous blogs. They are both Mini enthusiasts, so had a similar love of automobiles!

We wish Gav and Russ all the best for their future and thank them for letting us share part of their special day.

Mango performed at the amazing Thornton Hall Hotel and Spa for the marriage of Ellie and Andrew Buck. We set up outside for the ceremony, which took place in a summer house on the lawn. We performed for the singing of the register and as the new Mr and Mrs Buck made their way back down the aisle as husband and wife. We had especially learnt ‘Halo’ for Ellie, which we performed when they signed the register.

We then moved inside to perform over their wedding breakfast. Ellie and Andrew had handpicked all their favourite songs from our website setlist, which we performed as they ate.

It was such a lovely wedding, and Ellie and Andrew were so welcoming.

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the lovely Tracey and David at the stunning Yorebridge House Hotel. We performed for their ceremony, and for their relaxed evenings’ entertainment.

The couple asked us to learn ‘Ay fond Kiss’ a traditional Scottish Song that we performed in the ceremony as Tracey made her way down the aisle. We also played, ‘Fields of Gold’, ‘Make you feel my love’, ‘More than words’ and finally ‘I’m Yours’ as they made their way out as husband and wife.

We then joined the couple and their guests for the evening and performed some songs, handpicked by Tracey, for their relaxed evening celebration. We had such fun with Tracey and David, they really made us feel like part of the family!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the relaxed evening wedding celebrations of Helen and Robin in the stunning Tintinhull Gardens.

We set up in the gardens under a very large canopy and performed for the newlyweds and their guests as they played garden games and chatted. As the evening wore on we played many songs that had been handpicked by Helen from our website setlist and also performed their especially learnt song ‘MirrorBall’ by Elbow.

As the weather dampened, it didn’t seem to dampen Helen's spirit, as she and her guests danced to our songs in the rain. We were very grateful of the canopy that the new Mr and Mrs Bell provided!

It was a great evening that we thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks to Helen and Robin for making us feel so welcome and also Good Luck for your new future together!

Karen’s 40th Birthday, Leicester Tigers Stadium.

Where do you have your 40th Birthday party when you are a number one fan of the Leicester Tigers?... You’ve got it - the Tigers Ground of course!

Mango performed for the celebration of Karen’s big birthday, playing songs that Karen loved and also an especially learned McFly song. It was lovely to meet Karen as she had previously seen us perform at Maiyango, and is colleagues with one of our past Brides! Apparently our business card is doing the rounds at work!

It was a lovely evening that was enjoyed by Karen and all her guests. We would like to wish Karen a very Happy 40th, and thank her for letting us be part of her special celebration.

Uffington Village Fete, Lincolnshire.

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the Uffington Village Scarecrow weekend back a few weeks back. It was organised by a lovely lady called Karen. We had our own tent to set up in.... which was quite useful as the weather was typically British – unpredictable!

Both Will and myself thoroughly enjoyed ourselves playing for all the people of Uffington as they wandered around stalls and cake stands – which were particularly yummy! By the end of the afternoon we had drummed up a few fans, who had parked themselves on the grass in front of our tent, to sit and enjoy our music!

A big thanks to Karen for all her help and directions!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the lovely Sarah and Martin Cunningham for the evening celebrations at Shugborough Hall Tea Rooms . It was a very snug venue as more and more guests arrived during the evening.... it made a very cosy and intimate atmosphere as I could literally reach out and touch the guests they were that close! We performed Sarah and Martin's first dance. They chose ‘Your Beautiful’ by James Blunt and we also learnt ‘Set the fire to the third bar’ by Snow Patrol as a special request for them. It’s such a great song that we have now added that to our setlist!

We would like to thank Sarah and Martin for letting us be part of their big day and also for making us feel so welcome and like ‘part of the family’ while we were there.

Mango performed for the drinks reception and wedding breakfast of the new Mr and Mrs Foister at the beautiful location of Carriage Hall. We set ourselves up outside on the lawn where the drinks reception was taking place, where we and the guests awaited the arrival of the newly weds to start our set. As they pulled up in a magnificent white car we performed our first song – a song they had asked us to learn, Hotel Yorba by The White Stripes. Sarah and Jonathan were dancing to it in car as they arrived and then stepped out to join their guests. We then went on the play all the songs that the couple had picked out from our website setlist.

Time went so quickly as we entertained the Sarah and Jonathan and their guests over drinks and dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and especially enjoyed learning their special song for them – one which we have kept in the setlist!

Ben’s surprise 30th Birthday Party, London.

A few weeks ago I received an email from a lovely girl called Anna, asking whether we could perform at the surprise 30th birthday party of her boyfriend Ben. As we were free, we were delighted to involved in the most military planned surprise birthday party ever – If you ever need a surprise party planned, Anna’s your girl!
We arrived one sunny Sunday afternoon at Anna’s old university digs – I must say, they were very nice digs to be in!! We set ourselves up in the garden ready for the action to begin... as we were a little early, we put ourselves to good use by helping Anna’s friends to decorate the house and garden.

When the time finally arrived, Ben made his blindfolded appearance as we performed ‘Here comes the sun’ to welcome him into the party. He was totally shocked and overwhelmed at the amount of family and friends who had come to surprise him. We also performed a special song (‘What Deener was talkin about’) that we had learnt for Ben at Anna’s request.

The afternoon went so quickly as we performed for everyone in the garden. It was such a lovely day and we were so thrilled to play a part in this special occasion.

Happy Birthday Ben, hope you had a very memorable day!

Karen and Michael, Engagement Party, The Brew House Hotel, Tunbridge Wells

Mango performed for the evening celebrations of newly engaged couple Karen and Micheal at the fabulous venue – The Brew House Hotel, Tunbridge Wells.

We performed are more relaxed songs while the champagne flowed and the couple and their guests chatted, mingled and offered their congratulations to the very excitable Karen.

As the evening wore on we stepped up the tempo of the music allowing a few of the ladies... and a few gents too to show some of their dancing talent on the very small dance floor. I must say that all the dancers did incredibly well dancing to just an acoustic guitar!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the drinks reception and early evening entertainment for Natalie and Chris at the stunning Devonshire Fell Hotel.

We performed for their drinks reception outside on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and played Natalie’s handpicked songs from our website setlist. We also stayed to perform for the couple as their evening guests arrived for the evening celebrations. This included our performance of their first dance song ‘ If I should fall Behind’ by Bruce Springsteen, which we learnt especially for them.

Mango performed for the Wedding Ceremony and afternoon reception of The new Mr and Mrs Hetherington at Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire.

Anna and Stuart, Rushton Hall, Northamptonshire

Mango had the pleasure of performing for Anna and Stuart for their drinks reception at the fabulous Rushton Hall. Their wedding was slightly different for us, as unusually, we knew the Bride and Groom – they just happened to be our opposite door neighbours!

Although their wedding took place in very late March, Anna had her heart set on the drinks reception taking place in the stunning courtyard garden. Luckily the weather was on her side and although a little chilly in the shade, the sun was gloriously warm – this enabled us all to enjoy the March sunshine. We performed all of Anna and Stuarts favourite songs – as well as a few of Anna’s Mum’s – she especially liked the Eva Cassidy songs!

We had a fantastic time with Anna, Stuart and all their family and friends. We’ re also glad that Anna and Stuart finally made it back safely from their honeymoon in the Maldives, after a certain volcanic ash cloud left them stranded! It’s nice to have you back in the neighbourhood!

Mango performed for the intimate drinks reception of the newlyweds, Katy and Richard at The Case bar in Leicester. We were in the cosy cellar bar providing chilled out music for Katy and Richard as they sipped mulled wine and ate delicious canapés. Katy had handpicked all of her favourite songs from our setlist for us to perform. We also learnt a special song for her and Richard – ‘Lets Stay Together’- when we performed it, they danced an impromptu first dance.

We had a lovely time performing for the new Mr and Mrs Saunders, as with all great weddings – time went too quickly. We left everyone with the party in full swing as they went on into the night.

We hope that Katy and Richard have a fabulous married life together and wish them well.

Naomi Black’s - Be- lated 30th Birthday party, The Celtic Manor, Wales.

Back in February Mango were asked to perform at Naomi’s 30th Birthday party (we performed at her wedding in 2008). It was all planned and just about to go ahead, when her husband, Adam couldn’t make the party due to a last minute work commitment. Reluctantly Naomi had to cancel, but arranged for a later date. A few weeks back, we finally had the pleasure of performing at the Lovely Celtic Manor for Naomi’s birthday dinner.

We played some livelier numbers while the birthday girl and her guests sipped cocktails, chatted a mingled and got in the party mood. We then performed over their dinner, providing some relaxed music as they ate.

We had a great time with Naomi and her friends and family again, and it was so nice to be among my Welsh countrymen and women once again – even if it was for just a few hours.

Thanks to Naomi for letting us be part of her birthday celebrations and for looking after us so well. Happy Birthday Naomi!

Mango had the pleasure of performing for the wedding of Stephanie and Simon Robinson. They we married at the stunning City Rooms in the heart of Leicester city. We performed for their ceremony playing a selection of songs chosen from our setlist and also learnt a special song – ‘Mrs Robinson’ which we played as they made their exit as husband and wife. We had to slightly edit the lyrics to the song, as it had a few religious words in, that couldn’t be said/sung during a civil ceremony! That said, we sang it again for them during the wedding breakfast, and the whole of the wedding party joined in singing it to Stephanie!

We had a great time with Stephanie, Simon and all their guests, it was a shame to leave them after the wedding breakfast.

Sarah and Louis Garner, Caverswell Castle, Staffordshire

Mango had the huge pleasure of performing at not only the ceremony, but for the early evening celebrations of Sarah and Louis. The venue was the fabulous Caverswell Castle – a truly romantic building set in it’s own moat!

The couple chose ‘Have I told you lately that I love you’, for the processional – which we learnt especially, ‘My Everything’ as they signed the register and ‘Better Together’ as they made they exit as the new Mr and Mrs Garner.

We had a few hours before our next performance, so we took the opportunity to explore the amazing grounds before heading back into the castle for our dinner – lovely pie and mash – provided by the bride and groom! We also got to catch up with our old pal - the fantastic Steve Gerrard, their photographer, who we have worked with previously. He has taken some amazing photo’s - please click here – we recommend his services very highly!

We finished our time with Sarah and Louis in the dungeons of Caverswell Castle by performing their first dance, which was ‘Have I told you lately that I love you’ again, which I thought was just perfect! We then handed over to another one of Mangos’ pals – DJ Andy from Sonic Light and Sound, one of the best DJ’s we have had the pleasure of working with.

The new BMW Series 5 Saloon Launch, Shrewsbury.

Once again, Mango had the opportunity to work with the fabulous Adfield Group at the launch of the new BMW Series 5 Saloon in Shrewsbury.

We provided some chilled out acoustic tunes, while people chatted and mingled and most importantly caught a glimpse of BMW’s newest cars – which was very nice!

While we were there we got to catch up with Ian Field (Director of Adfield) and his brother, who were also there to promote their new business – Field Brothers of Beckbury – a fine wine and luxury hamper company. Both myself and Will have sampled the wines they have on offer, and lets just say – a lot of people will be getting hampers this year for Christmas! Mango had the pleasure of being invited to perform at Marlon’s 30th Birthday Dinner Party at The Radisson Edwardian Hampshire Hotel, London. Marlon had hired out the Penthouse function suite overlooking the stunning foggy London Skyline.
We performed while Marlon and his guests dined, and played some of the hand picked songs Marlon had chosen from our setlist. We also learned a couple of songs for Marlon – ‘When you were young’ by the Killers and ‘Tracks of my tears’ by Smokey Robinson.
It was a great evening and we were thrilled to be part of Marlon’s celebrations.

Meet the newest addition to Mango.... Hank.

Hello everyone, just thought I would share with you the newest addition to Mango - 'Hank' the new Mango Mobile!

Will and I set about trying to get some new wheels to take us to all the up and coming weddings this year, and thought we would trade in our rather large, automatic, petrol estate, for something a bit more economical. It all went a bit wrong when we both fell in love with a chocolate brown Mini Clubman Cooper S called Hank....

Will had been fancying a change of car, and one day proclaimed that he would love to have a Mini. So, we arranged to have a test ride of a Mini clubman and more importantly to see whether we could fit our equipment in the boot of one. To the amusement of Garry (From Mini Sytner Leicester) we did a test run loading up all the Mango Equipment into the slightly smaller boot of the Clubman. Would you believe it... we could get everything in - albeit a tight squeeze! So the search was on the find a Diesel clubman.. saving money on all the miles we'll be doing over the wedding season.

After missing out on so many perfect cars - they don't seem to be on sale for long before they get snapped up, Will spotted a lonely Chocolate Brown Clubman Cooper S for sale in Sutton Coldfield - so much for that diesel idea Will! The next day we bought him and now he'll be making his way (along with us!) to all the fabulous weddings this year. So watch out and see whether you can spot Mango and Hank on their travels and their Mini Mango Adventures.

We provided the entertainment for the relaxed affair that Carolyn and Andrew wished for. Our music could be heard resonating throughout the venue, so the guests could enjoy listening to us wherever they were.
Carolyn had asked us to learn Stevie Wonders ‘You are the sunshine of my life’ for their first dance. It is a great song for a first dance as the words are so poignant for the occasion.

Mango are delighted to announce that we will be attending the Wedding Showcase at Hotel Maiyango, Leicester on the 21st March 2010. We'll be performing live from 11am til 4.30pm.

We have performed at Maiyango resturant and the hotel many times and are really looking forward to being a part of the wedding showcase. It's a stunning venue, a boutique style hotel, ideal for a stylish wedding set in the heart of the city of Leicester. The food is amazing (one of the finest we've ever tasted!) and Jo, the assistant manager and all the staff are brilliant!

Walkers Crisps Christmas Party.

Mango had the opportunity to perform for Walkers Crisps Christmas Party at the Walkers stadium. The whole event was organised by the fantastic Jigsaw Events. They had transformed the venue to include a mini stage, a DJ stand including flat screen TV’s to play accompanying music videos on, fun fair stalls and much more.
We performed as the guests arrived and sipped champagne whilst chatting, and also while they dined.
It was a great night, and we thank Tom, from Jigsaw Events for looking after us so well – he had even organised for some ‘roadies’ to help us with our equipment – Charlie’s feet in her 4.5 inch heels were very thankful of them!

Mango performed for the early evening celebrations of Sarah and Rick and the beautiful Hothorpe Hall, Leicesteshire. We played in the bar area and entertained the guests as they relaxed into the evening.

This was Mango’s first New Years Eve wedding, and we felt very privileged to be entertaining Michelle and Craig on their wedding day. Their wedding reception took place at the fabulous Woodlands Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a lovely African Parrot called Boo Boo. She was very shy, but liked to sing along with us when sang during the drinks reception.
We also performed during the wedding breakfast, and played ‘My Everything’ while Michelle and Craig made their grand entrance. We played our subtle relaxed style of music while Michelle, Craig and their guests tucked into their ‘Beef Dinners’.

We have had lots of positive feedback from family and friends about our choice of entertainment and your great voice! We loved the way your music blended into the background and wasn't intrusive in any way into our Wedding Breakfast. It set a lovely atmosphere and was just what we were hoping for.

The New Mr and Mrs Long, Brownsover Hall, Warwickshire

Mango had the pleasure of performing at the early evening wedding celebrations of Frances and Richard Long. The couple had opted for a relaxed wedding day at the stunning Brownsover Hall. We provided some chilled out songs while the guests chatted and mingled with the newly weds. Frances and Richard had chosen ‘You Give Me Something’ by James Morrison as their first dance, which we learnt for them especially. We then handed over to DJ Gaston, who made sure the party carried on well into the night.
We had a lovely time performing for Frances, Richard and all their guests. We wish them well in their new married life together.

Laura and Matt Humphreys, Clearwell Castle, Forest of Dean.

This was the day that the weathermen had threatened severe snow over the Forest of Dean. During our final last minute check phone conversation, Laura admitted was a bit worried that her guests and suppliers wouldn’t make the wedding, because of the weather predictions. We (MANGO) had left Leicestershire in plenty of time – just in case, with all the snow emergency extra’s packed in our trusty ‘Mango Mobile!’ We arrived at the lovely Clearwell Castle to no snow, but drizzle instead. Maybe the weathermen had it wrong!?
We performed for Laura and Matt’s ceremony – Laura walked down the aisle to our rendition of ‘Use Somebody’, and we played ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’ while they signed the register and then ‘All I Want is You’ by U2 as they made their way back down the aisle as Husband and Wife. Would you believe it? The snow fell during the ceremony and the couple were greeted with a blanket of white outside – perfectly in time for their photographs.
After the ceremony we relocated to the Grand Entrance Hall to provide some music for the Drinks Reception. Just as we were about to finish, we had a visit from a certain famous man all dressed in red and a great big bushy white beard! All the children were delighted, as Christmas had quickly come again, just 4 days after the last one!
Sadly, we had come to the end of our time at Laura and Matts wedding. We had a great time and wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks for letting us be part of your big day!

PS- We nearly did have to stay longer, as the snow had come down so thick and fast – roads had been shut. However, we managed to find a way back home to unsnowy Market Harborough!

The new Mr and Mrs Williams.

During the month of December, Mango were getting used to packing up the ‘MANGO MOBILE’ with all the necessary equipment – PA Equipment, Guitars, Suit and Party Dress..... and a spade, blankets, emergency food (Will’s idea – just in case we get a bit stuck and stranded in the snow!). What started out to be a not so snowy day in Market Harborough, turned into a very snowy experience in the heart of Wales!
We had quite an exciting journey slipping and sliding over the snowy hills and mountains of the Brecon Beacons, finally arriving at the beautiful Peterstone Court Hotel, Llanhamlach, Brecon. Mango performed for the intimate evening reception of the new Mr and Mrs Williams – John and Helen. We provided some chilled out music for all the guests to relax to, and also performed the first dance ‘Into the West’ by Annie Lennox. It’s a lovely song and was very emotional to watch the newly married couple enjoy their first dance. As the wine and beer flowed, so did some of the braver guests onto the dance floor, so show off their moves to our slightly livelier numbers!
We had a great time at John and Helen’s wedding and wish them well for their future together.

Melanie and Steve, Tissington Hall, Derbyshire

One cold snowy morning, Mango turned up at the stunning Tissington Hall to play for the drinks reception and early evening reception of Melanie and Steve Pearson. We performed in the oak panelled reception room, filled with warmth by an amazing roaring log fire, for the drinks reception. Mel, Steve and their guests chatted and mingled over a warm glass of Mulled Wine, whilst listening to our relaxing music. Steve and Mel are big Foo fighters fans, so we made sure we performed plenty of their songs, including the one they had asked us to learn – ‘Big Me’.

After their wedding breakfast, and the carollers had finished singing carols outside in the snow, we performed the first dance. The couple chose ‘First day of My Life’ to dance to, which is a lovely song with some great lyrics.

We would like to thank Mel and Steve for having us and making us feel so welcome. Good luck for your new future together as Mr and Mrs Pearson.

Christmas party @ Molineux Stadium for Muras Baker Jones.

Mango had the pleasure of providing the entertainment for Muras Baker Jones Christmas Party. The party took place at the fantastic Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton. We played some chilled out tunes while all the guests chatted and mingled over a glass or 2 of mulled wine.
We were invited to play by the event company Adfield Group – it was great to work with Ian and Paul again, who put on such an amazing event, yet again.

Adrian and Kelly Tayor, Manorial Barn, Rotheram

Mango performed for the early evening wedding celebrations of Adrian and Kelly Taylor at The Manorial Barn, Rotheram. Right from the outset we were both really looking forward to performing at their wedding, as their first dance song choice just happened to be by a band that Will loved. Adrian asked us whether we could learn ‘Tonight Tonight’ by the Smashing Pumpkins, so of course we said ‘Yes, Yes, Yes!’ Since adding this song to our repertoire nearly all our other couples have requested we play this one. Good choice guys!!
Manorial Barn is a lovely location, full of character and a great setting for a wedding. We had fun playing for the new Mr and Mrs Taylor and guests as they ate, drank and got a bit more merry. Kelly looked stunning in her beautiful gown and Adrian looked very snazzy in his suit and fabulous hat!
A few days ago we received this lovely email from Kelly and Adrian –

“Hi, Charlie and Will

Just about got back to normal life after honeymoon .We would like tosay a massive thank you to you both for making our wedding day extraspecial. Everybody said just how great you were and we loved it whenyou sang our song by Smashing Pumpkins. I hope you both have had a lovely Christmas and a happy new year. Thank you once again.
